Organizational Effectiveness
Strengthening the Organization
In our increasingly competitive industry, creating internal organizational efficiencies is a must. Changes in the external environment occur at a rapid pace and play a key role in determining who takes the lead versus who simply remains in the race.
Pride is meeting that challenge by utilizing a process to create efficiencies at the functional and organizational levels. The Organizational Effectiveness Process – also known as “Whiteboarding” – is designed to discover potential efficiencies by identifying the following:
- current strategy
- structure
- systems/processes
- staffing
- skills
- shared values (culture)
- success measures
The information gathered in the “Whiteboarding” sessions is then used to determine the actions required for improved effectiveness and increased productivity.
Numerous questions are asked to generate ideas and engage the session participants. Some of the more common questions include
- What are the key strategic objectives for your function? How do those objectives align with Pride’s DW One Strategy?
- What functional design and/or structural changes are needed to support your key strategic objectives?
- What are your current internal systems and processes? How are they used? How effective are they?
- What are your function’s (team members) key strengths? What skill/knowledge/experience gaps exist that need addressing?
- What is the optimal staffing mix is necessary to support your strategy?
- Does your function have a common culture? Is it aligned with the organization’s culture?
- What are the metrics used to track success?
A number of meetings have been held thus far, with promising results. Follow-up sessions are scheduled on an on-going basis to ensure recommended actions are put into place and to measure the overall effectiveness of those recommendations.
As is usually the case, we begin with the end in mind, which means we consider our desired outcomes prior to each Whiteboarding session. Those outcomes remain consistent throughout the organization: excellent customer service, increased profitability, lower operating costs, increased efficiency and cycle time, committed and engaged employees, and a clear strategy for managing and growing our business.
