Global Survey Update 11-16-10
Pride administered a Global Employee Survey in the 3rd quarter of 2009. More than three-quarters of our entire organization participated and the results were quite positive overall. Work has been underway over the last few months to take the results of the survey and create actionable work plans across our company.
The following top five strengths and the top five areas for improvement were identified:
Strengths
- I have a very clear idea of my job responsibilities.
- My supervisor holds me accountable for the quality of my work.
- My supervisor is focused and committed to ensuring a safe operation and working environment.
- The people I work with cooperate together to get the job done.
- My supervisor will stop a job for a safety concern or condition change.
Areas for Improvement
- At Pride, people are rewarded according to their job performance.
- In comparison with the people in similar jobs in other companies, I feel my pay is competitive.
- My company is actively involved in my community.
- This company does a good job of hiring the right people for the right job.
- I feel my benefits compare favorably with benefits in similar companies.
The Executive Team all agreed that the results were very good overall and show that our company has a strong foundation. They also recognized the need to work on those areas identified as having need for improvement. Because strengths and improvement areas varied by functional groups and work locations, Department- and Region-specific Action Planning Teams were created to review data more specific to those functions and locations. More than 40 teams were established globally. The Action Planning Teams reviewed their specific results and have been addressing issues based on their ability to influence the solution, as well as the degree to which they can add long-term value.
The Action Planning Teams have been given the tools they need to make practical and positive recommendations. Progress of these teams will be regularly highlighted on the Pride U website as well as in future The Focus Newsletters.
